Women Provide For War
Women in the war had an important role because they had to provide medical care to treat the wonder and sick soldiers. Harriet Tubman and Sojourner Truth was one of the few women who would volunteer to serve in the war as nurses for the Union army. There was a lot of fighting that took place in the south so southern women had to serve as nurses over there. Most of the homes were turned into medical shelters so one of the women called Sally Tompkins took in the soldiers who fought in the first battle "Battle of Bull Run", providing them with their own hospital in a private home to take care of the wounded soldiers.
