hedgerow country
This is a hedgerow country and it was something that provided an advantage for the Germans. It was basically a wall of shrubs as you can see in the picture above. Basically what the Germans would do was that they would hide in the shrubs and then they would wait for the Americans to come down the road. When the Americans would come down the roads they would blast them and their tanks, and they would also set mines and bombs in the shrubs for safety when the Americans would walk through.

Very interesting to see more unique ways the Germans tried to weaken the Allied forces.
It's interesting to see how even flat terrain can have immense tactical advantages. If I remember correctly the Allies modified an M-4 Sherman tank to have what are essentially circular saws on arms in the front to cut through these hedgerows.
