M1 Garand

The M1 Garand is a .30 caliber clip-fed semi-automatic rifle. It was the standard issue rifle in the US Military during World War II, the Korean War and even the beginning of the Vietnam War. They were even distributed to allies of the US. One of the M1 Garand's most well-known characteristics is the ping noise it makes after the clip is ejected. There were also different variants made for different tasks. For example, the M31 HEAT antitank rifle grenade was able to be fired from the M1 Garand and the T20E2 variant had a scope mount so that it could be more effective at longer ranges. At the peak of production, there were 122,000 M1 Garands made in January of 1944.
