Timothy McVeigh was the domestic terrorist accused of committing the deadliest act of terrorism in the US prior to the 9/11 attacks. It is well-known that he was a Gulf War veteran, but what isn't completely known by everyone is what inspired his attack.
He wanted revenge against the federal government for multiple reasons. The first one was the 1993 Waco Siege, which killed 82 people, including many children. The second was the Ruby Ridge Incident, which was an 11-day siege. The third was mainly the US foreign policy.
These reasons made him want to inflict as much damage as he could to create any sort of tyranny against the federal government. We know the rest of the story. He bombed Oklahoma City and killed 168 people and hurt over 680 others.
He was sentenced to 8 life terms for killing 8 federal agents, and 161 life terms without parole for the deaths of the others. He was sentenced to death, and executed by being given the lethal injection.

Ironic how he hated the government because of the Waco Siege, which killed 82 people and then he went ahead to do something even worse, and caused many times over the number of casualties.
People were surprised at the time that a terrorists can be an American. As a result of these domestic terrorist attacks, the US began to pay more attention to individual terrorists instead of countries.
